A LESSON PLAN FOR PARENTS :

Don't let your child become another bleak education statistic. Here's how to foster your own thriving parent-teacher association:

Whether, we learn to read,write and add depends a lot on you. " Parental involvment cannot be placed by anything else". Though parents are often reluctant to intrude,some teachers feel that "too much" is never enough. Their advice:

* GET TO KNOW YOUR CHILD'S TEACHERS.
Don't hesitate to bethe one to initiate contact,whether you have anything specific to discuss or not. And keep in mind that teachers need positive strokes as much as anyone.

* WHEN THERE'S A PROBLEM,WORK WITH THE TEACHER TO SOLVE IT.
" i have never had an interview with a parent--whether it started out angry or peaceful--that didn't benefit the child.

* REINFORCE AT HOME WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE CLASSROOM,ONCE YOU'
VE ESTABLISHED A COURSE OF ACTION WITH THE TEACHERS.
Keep abreast of what's going on in class and what's expected of your child.

* INSIST THAT YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATION NOT BE DETERMINED BY HOW HE OR SHE PERFORMS ON STANDARDIZED TESTS.
Support evaluation methods like essay tests,rather than multiplied-choice exams, that more fully reflect a student's capabilities.

* VOLUNTEER TIME IF YOU CAN ,
whether it's helping out with organization tasks, reading aloud to kids, teaching them to bake a cake or working with them on one-on-one basis.

* PUT YOUR WEIGHT BEHIND BETTER PAY FOR TEACHERS AND MORE FUNDING FOR SCHOOLS.
Then urge that those monies go toward paying for programs you approve of, supplementing books, equipment or supplies, or adding necessary personnel like teachers'aides or specialists.

* ABOVE ALL, INVEST YOURSELF IN YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATION.
Talk to your child about school--about friends,classes, homework--and show you're interested.---end.

TIPS & Tricks :

* Clean up ; Shortcuts ---
Having a hard time cleaning your blender? A fast easy way is to fill halfway with hot water, add a drop of detergent, cover ,and then turn it on for just few seconds. Rinse and wipe it dry.
Can openers sometimes give a problem with accumulated food drying up. Loosen the grime by brushing with and old tootbrush. To clean the blades throughly, run a paper towel through the cutting process.

Your breadboards bothering the kitchen air? To get rod of onion, garlic or fish smells, cut a calamansi into two and rub the surface with the cut side of the sour fruit.
Another way and probably faster and easier: make paste of baking soda and water, apply
generously, and after a few minutes, rinse.

* For Scorched Pans ---

Sprinklethe burnt pots with baking soda ( and economize on the powder ). Add just enough water to moisten. Let it stand for several hours. You can then lift the burned portions right out of tha pan.
None-stick cookware do develop stubborn stains,.They can easily be removed by boiling in them 2 tablespoon of baking soda, 1/2 cup vinegar and 1 cup waterfor ten minutes. Pour out once,and don't forget to reseason the pan with salad oil.

If your broiler pan has become difficult to clean, sprinkle it while hot with plenty of dry laundry detergent. Cover with a dampered paper towel and let the burnes food particles set for a while. The pan will then be eaisier to scour.

* Problems with Glassware ?

When washing crystal, vinegar is a must. After soaping, rince in 1 part vinegar and 3 parts warm water. Simply air dry afterwards.
When one glass is stuck inside another because a child had placed them together, do not force them apart. They will just break. Instead, fill the top glass with cold water from th fridge, and dip the lower one in hot water (not boiling). The two glasses will then come apart easily.
Some glassware usually develop some scrathes afte use. You can make those scrathes disappear just by polishing with toothpaste.
A small nick in the rim of a glass can be smoothed out with an emert board. But make sure the nick has really evened out. If still there, throw the glass away. Better than a wounded lip.
